Making the Connection

Making the Connection

Once you have created the foundation, create a ritual to make a better connection with your deity. If you know how to cast a magical circle, cast one. (See below.) State your intention to make a personal connection with your deity. Then prepare to meditate. Sit comfortably and relax your body. If you like to have music, you can use quiet relaxing New Age music, or if interested in shamanic journey, you can use shamanic drumming music. (Also see below.) Use what works best for your personality. Breathe deeply, and focus yourself on the task at hand.

Imagine yourself on a trail in the forest. Follow that trail, taking note of any plants or animals you see along the way. Notice the rustling of the leaves, and the feel of the land beneath your feet.

As you move deeper into the forest, you see a cave with a faint light in it. Go toward the cave and enter is mouth, following the light through this dark tunnel. Go deeper into the Earth.

At the end of the tunnel, you will come to a cavern illuminated by candle and torches, and there, your deity will be waiting. Introduce yourself and take this time to speak together. Ask any questions you have, both about your life, and questions about the deity and your relationship. Ask why you are working together.

When done, thank your god, and say farewell, knowing you can come back at any time. Return through the tunnel and cave, and follow the path back through the forest, back to where you began. Return yourself to normal consciousness, coming out of the meditation and grounding yourself, by pressing your hands firmly on the floor and feeling yourself become centered. Say a final blessing and thank you, and release your sacred space or circle. Write down your experiences because it can disappear like a dream. Reflect on your messages.

Continue to visit your deity often, to continue to build a relationship. Like any relationship, it requires time and attention to grow stronger. Most importantly, do not always focus on what your goddess and god can do for you, but what you can do for them? Ask frequently how you can serve them, and the higher good of the world? Sometimes they may ask you to do a spell or ritual. Other times it will be more practical and down to earth. I was once asked to call up a woman I didn’t know very well, and offer to teach her a breathing technique for detoxifying the body. Until I called her, I didn’t know she recently joined alcoholics anonymous and quit smoking, so she could really benefit from it to aid her cravings. As always follow your instinct, intuition and heart, and trust your own personal experience to guide you where you need to go.

Blessed be and may the gods and goddesses bless you all.
